The 3rd of October 2015... Another first Saturday of the month, another Cars and Coffee! With the temperature going down into the 70’s the attendence usually spikes, and this month was no exception. Lots of people where out, lots of cool cars including the Derek Bell edition Porsche 962 which is about as rare as you get.
I am still amazed by the stuff you miss when you walk the lot, I did not even know a large contigent of Porsche 928’s had decended till they drove past my lens leaving the grounds.
Is is also a fact people tend to drive by the show and not stop and enter it. Luck would had it that I turned around as a Pagani Huayra rolled by. I wasn’t so lucky when a white Diablo rolled by however. The Diablo is to Lamborghini what the F40 was to Ferrari. An icon, and I can’t get enough of them (although... my heart still belongs to the countach, and those are an even more rare sight...).
As usual people where willing to put their foot down and let us hear the symphony of their explosions trough the tail pipes. Some got on it to the point they broke traction. Some did it right, some where saved by ESC and TCS but unfortunately a C5 corvette did not survive the day. Luckily it was a wall that was hit, and not a person. The driver was banged up but ok. I did not capture the crash on film, but it’s out there on YouTube. The aftermath... well... Take a gander for yourself...
If you frequent car shows I would like you to empty your mind and don’t do stuff you don’t do regularly. Especially since the sentence is YouTube fame forever. If your heart starts racing before you are going to do something that tells you one thing: You are not good at it, you haven’t done it enough and you probably shouldn’t. Just wait till you point in a straight line and mash that go pedal. Shows have been canceled due to people loosing control so please don’t be that guy (or gal).
